October Resource Roundup š
What to read, listen to, and watch, in one place.
I missed sending this email for September (more swimming, sightseeing, and being outdoors, and less watching and reading) but Iām back at it this month. Hereās the next Resource Roundup ā the best of what Iāve been listening to, reading, and watching in October.
Have a fabulous weekend.
In case you missed it.
Weāre all busy and thereās a lot to read, soā¦
Hereās a roundup of what I shared on Business/Women on the five Wednesdays in October:
š Three books currently on deck.
āThe Fraud: A Novelā ā by Zadie Smith
āChoosing Wholeness Over Goodness: A Process for Reclaiming Your Full Selfā ā by Elise Loehnen and Courtney Smith (a workbook to put into practice the learnings from Elise Loehnenās bestseller, On Our Best Behavior: The Price Women Pay to Be Good).
āLose Your Mind: The Path to Creative Invincibilityā ā audiobook narrated by author Josh Pais
š Worth reading.
āHow to Open a Restaurant in New Yorkā ā by Priya Krishna with video by Hiroko Misuike (NYTimes gift link)
āTwenty ways to enjoy winter: Marking the fifth birthday of Winteringā ā by Katherine May
āPersonal History: Good morning. The things in our lives are the result of fantastic webs of interconnected prerequisites.ā ā by Melissa Kirsch (NYTimes Saturday Morning Newsletter, gift link)
š„ Worth watching.
After reading and loving restauranteur Will Guideraās book, Unreasonable Hospitality: The Remarkable Power of Giving People More Than They Expect, I subscribed to his bi-weekly āPre-Mealā newsletter. In it he shares his best tips on how to run a restaurant (aka any business). At the moment, heās the newsletter consists of series of experiences heās had when it comes to unreasonable hospitality. This week he wrote about an initiative KLM ran back in 2014.
To set it up:
āBack in 2014, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines set up shop in the Amsterdam airport for one week with a mission: search social media for travelers in need, and help them.
They didnāt just help their own customers. They helped everyone.ā
Itās worth watching.
p.s. If youāre a fan of The Bear, you will have seen Cousin reading the book and bringing āunreasonable hospitalityā to the newly opened restaurant.
